SCPC Q1/2024 Updates
As we come to the end of the first quarter, the Supply Chain Programme Committee has been charting its direction for the year ahead. Central to these efforts will be the work of the Intermodal Transportation Network (ITN) initiative with this first workshop in April, and of the sustainability subgroup, who will look into how to align economic survival with sustainability.
The members are looking forward to working together in order to make progress in each of these areas in 2024, bringing together the fruits of their labours at the Annual Meeting to focus on the resilience of supply chains.
EPCA Intermodal Transportation Network to hold first workshop
The Supply Chain Programme Committee has been actively working on the Intermodal Transportation Network (ITN). This initiative aims to transform the transportation of goods by addressing industry challenges such as reducing carbon emissions, overcoming the shortage of truck drivers and improving customer satisfaction through smarter planning.
Last year’s efforts culminated in the organisation of the first ITN workshop which will take place in Brussels on 23 April. This workshop is open to EPCA members and will be led by industry experts from Deloitte and the EPCA Supply Chain Programme Committee, and will dive into the intricacies of intermodal transport, to intermodal transport and collaboratively develop solutions and best practices. Together, we hope to pave the way towards a more sustainable and efficient petrochemical logistics industry. 🌍🚚

Creating a business case for sustainability
Another focus area of the Supply Chain Programme Committee, as well as pushing towards a modal shift, will be sustainability and circularity. In particular, the group hopes to organise a workshop on how to combine economic survival with sustainability. The workshop would be hosted by Agoria, the Belgian sector federation of technology industry companies, and would look into the best use cases regarding technology that can help the petrochemical sector. The group hopes to also bring in knowledge experts to share a European perspective on how economic growth can fit into the sustainability goals.
