2024 was a milestone year for the EPCA Supply Chain Committee! From advancing intermodality to co-organizing ChemTech Synergy 2024 - explore key highlights and upcoming opportunities below!

As we wrap up a successful year, the EPCA Supply Chain Committee is proud to reflect on our key achievements. We've hosted insightful events focusing on intermodality and the role of technology and innovation in helping the industry on its sustainability journey. These initiatives have advanced our industry and strengthened our community. With a focus on collaboration and innovation, we look forward to building on this momentum in the coming year!

EPCA Intermodal Transportation Network

EPCA’s Intermodal Transport Network recently hosted a dynamic webinar on intermodality, spotlighting the crucial roles of infrastructure, digitalization, and collaboration in transforming Europe's transportation networks. Find the conclusions of that webinar here.

This webinar was also a chance to gather EPCA members’ input on our upcoming workshop, which will take place in Brussels on 18 February 2025. This is your chance to dive deeper into these topics, share your insights, and help shape the future of intermodal transportation, so save the date!

ChemTech Synergy 2024

At the start of November, industry leaders gathered in Antwerp for ChemTech Synergy 2024, an event that aimed to bring together the chemical and tech industry to share insights on how technology can be used to help the chemical industry meet its sustainability requirements while remain competitive. The event featured panels on decarbonizing logistics, circular economy models, and building resilient value chains, emphasizing cooperation as key to overcoming industry challenges. There were also discussions on shaping future EU industry policy which highlighted the need for strategic investments and innovation-friendly policies. The focus on transformative technologies showcased the synergy between AI, start-ups, and sustainable solutions. The SCPC had a site visit in Antwerp!

To close out the year, the EPCA Supply Chain Committee met in Antwerp for their annual site visit. The trip started at Vopak’s Energy Park Antwerp, where the team discussed their exciting refurbishment plans. Next, they visited the iconic Port House to explore both an aerial view of the port and stunning views of its busy operations. The day wrapped up at CMB.Tech’s advanced hydrogen refueling station, highlighting the future of sustainable energy. It was a day rich with innovation, inspiration, and insights into transformative industry projects!

From Player to Leader: Europe in the Global Supply Chain

Throwback: On 10 October 2024 a roundtable discussion organised by the SCPC Committee at the EPCA 58th Annual Meeting explored how Europe can remain a leader in the global supply chain, and how it can maintain or even regain competitiveness against petrochemical players in other regions of the world.

Speakers included Virginie Delcroix (Geodis), Yarellis Hernandez (LyondellBasell), Roberta Chiesura (Infineum) and Valerio Dilda (McKinsey).
