In 1961 Marcos Montero Ruiz founded in Villarrobledo, in the heart of La Mancha, a small family based company dedicated to the transport in tanks. In those days the transported goods came from the agricultural production in the area, mainly wine and oil.
Chemical liquids, Bulk Powder and Granulated products
The industrial expansion of the beginning of the seventies, with the development of several petrochemical hubs in different locations of Spain, presented an opportunity to begin offering services for this sector with high growth expectations. As time passed, these transport activities became more and more specialized, to the point of turning into the company´s main activity.
Overcoming the difficulties that existed in that moment for the development of international trade, Pañalón took a pioneer role by crossing borders and began to offer international services.
When Spain became a member of the E.E.C., it became possible to open new markets and to extend the pool of clients to companies from the rest of Europe. Pañalón soon passed from being a predominantly domestic service provider company to one with an international projection and orientation.
At the end of the eighties, with the aim of complementing the range of services directed to the chemical industry, Pañalón began to transport granulated products in specific tanks.
In 1995 Pañalón demonstrated its innovative spirit once again: we became the first Spanish transport company to obtain the ISO 9002 quality certificate.
A policy of continuous investment in new vehicles together with several acquisitions of companies in the sector during the last decades has allowed Pañalón to consolidate definitively as the leader in the national market, and one of the companies of reference in the transport of chemical products in Europe.
In 2003, after more than 20 years of presence in Tarragona, one of the most important petrochemical centers of Europe, Pañalón moved to new offices in Constanti´s industrial area.
In an excellent location, near the main clients in an important communications hub, the complex has all the necessary complementary services to the transport activity (parking area for dangerous goods, cleaning station, workshops, service station, etc)
Industrial vehicles
In 1988 Pañalón began its activity in the sector of the transport of vehicles, specializing from the beginning in “high and heavy”.
In 2001 came a definitive push of the division when Pañalón took over an important company of the sector. From this moment Pañalón is considered the first national operator and one of the biggest in Europe in the transport of industrial vehicles.
One year later, all the activities of the company related to this business unit moved to Torrejon del Rey, in the proximity of Madrid. The new facilities of 150.000 square meters allow the company to extend its range of services related to the transport and integral logistics of industrial vehicles.
Multimodal transport
In order to fit the demands of our main clients and to complement the range of services, in 1999 Pañalón combined efforts with another important company, founded a new division focused on multimodal transportation, which, in 2008, became Pañalón Multimodal. This company offers multimodal transport of chemical goods in containers, combining traffics by road with other means of transport such as rail and short sea shipping.
This is our history, and it has been this way thanks to the vision, effort and leadership of the company´s founder and President, Marcos Montero Ruiz.
