Marenzana

Marenzana’s activity in the transport field was started by Mr. Armando F. Marenzana in 1959, after 11 years of experience, building infrastructures in Venezuela.

After having built, on behalf of the Venezuelan government, a section of the Trans-Amazon road, he became fed up with the frequent political revolutions and decided to return to Italy, where he began his activity in the transportation field, first with fuel, then with petrochemicals and basic chemicals.

The growth was similar to the majority of Italian companies of that period, which started with just one vehicle and then, due to the economic boom, increased continuously.

The company expanded, reaching a good size, already in the 70s but an important growth happened at the beginning of the 80s. Thanks to an aggressive commercial activity by his wife, Mrs. Ada Sterpi, many important companies such as Montedison, Enichem, Roloil, Mira Lanza became Marenzana’s customers.

As from 1984, after finishing his studies, their son Alberto joined Marenzana. He re-organized the company, achieving some important successes, the client portfolio became more and more prestigious, Marenzana was one of the first Italian hauliers to obtain the ISO 9000 certification in 1993, in 1994 it was selected by Cefic for the pilot phase of SQAS among 22 important companies in Europe. It was changed into a SPA in 1997 and became international by opening foreign branches and forming important partnerships. It was also one of the ECTA’s founders in 1999.

At the beginning of 2000, the company decided to undertake a change of management strategy, it left the typical Italian model of the sector, mainly based on an individual management style and implemented a structured management model.

The Company made some important investments in HR, during this process, Mr. Alessandro Pais was hired in 2001, he soon became Managing Director and, through a loyalty plan, Alessandro became a shareholder in Marenzana Spa.
