Versalis

Versalis (Eni) is the largest Italian chemical company with a global presence in the plastics and rubber markets. It holds market stewardship in manufacturing and in the commercialization of intermediates, polyethylene, styrenics and elastomers. Over the last few years, Versalis has also been focusing on the bio-based industry, establishing a dedicated business unit and developing an integrated technological platform in line with its business strategy.

The company is interacting with markets through globally-oriented strategies and a market-driven product portfolio, emphasizing R&D and licensing and further expanding its technological and commercial footprint worldwide. To this end, it leverages its operations, capabilities, wide range of proprietary technologies, far-reaching distribution network and after-sale assistance together with its subsidiaries in the APAC region, USA, Africa and Middle East.

As part of Eni’s wider strategy, Versalis considers circularity to be a strategic driver in an integrated and synergic way: from resources and processes, to products throughout their whole life cycle. The three pillars of Versalis’ circular economy strategy, closely connected to innovation, are an approach considering the entire life cycle and eco-design of its products for the greater efficiency of resources, feedstock diversification and recycling of polymers.

This commitment is marked by Versalis’ participation in innovative projects and initiatives, such as the Alliance to help End Plastic Waste, a major project launched in an unprecedented move by which the world’s leading chemical companies and operators throughout the value chain have teamed up to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy at a global level and respond to plastic waste pollution, in particular the marine litter issue.
