Carsten Weers was born in Rhauderfehn, Germany, in 1971. From 1994 to 2000, he studied Business Administration at the Universityof Mannheim/Germany and the Oregon State University in Corvallis/USA.He received his master's degree at the University of Mannheim in April 2000 and entered BASF SE then in an international marketing trainee program. After working five years in the marketing of the European business unit for lacquer raw materials and architectural coatings, he has been appointed to become the head of supply chain management of dispersions for adhesives & construction in Europe in October 2005. Thereafter, he has been delegated by BASF SE to Waterloo/Belgium in March 2009 to head the global supply chain management of the polyurethanes division. Returning to Ludwigshafen from his delegation in Sep 2013, Carsten took over the lead of global supply chain management of the monomers division. Since February 2020, he leads the logistic procurement for European bulk and rail transportation in Ludwigshafen/Germany. Carsten Weers has been appointed by the board of directors of BASF SE in October 2021 to succeed Michael Dries as Vice President Logistics Procurement Maritime & Air Transportation, Tank Storage in December 2021.
