Uniting our energies and strength towards meaningful purpose
While the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer dominating the discussions, it continues to impact the global supply chain. The increasing demand for electricity in the context of the energy transition, has driven the increase in the price of energy across the Continent, an energy crisis recently exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. Our CEO Caroline writes down her thoughts about the importance of maintaining collaboration and human connection in these challenging times...

Three months later, the context in which we all operate is more uncertain and fatigue seems to be setting in for many of us. Like many of you, I am shocked and concerned by the danger and horror faced by the civilian population, forcing millions to flee their country, communities and families.

My thoughts are certainly with those impacted across the region, the members of the ECPA community, their loved ones and extended communities. We wish nothing more than to see a rapid end to this conflict.

It is more than ever crucial not to lose any focus on our goals as a sector and as an organisation.

Member companies continue to contribute their share in tackling climate change and building a sustainable transition, in a context which creates a deeper understanding of the issues at stake and the numerous obstacles to overcome to reach climate neutrality.

At EPCA, we are connecting all our strength and efforts towards a meaningful purpose: serving you, our loyal members in the best possible way. Much consideration was given by the EPCA Board of Directors and Team on how to best nurture the sense of belonging, common purpose, and shared identity that inspires all of us to do our best work and drive the petrochemical industry forward.

Therefore, this year all efforts will be made to host the 56th EPCA Annual Meeting in-person in Berlin. The event is spread over three days, from Tuesday to Thursday, 4-6 October – with the possibility to register and reconnect already on Monday 3 October, with the overarching theme ‘This is Our Time’.

After two years of digital only connection, we all want to re-engage in person and feel the stamina of in-person interaction. The different sessions are currently planned with a focus on our vision and efforts in building a smarter, circular and more sustainable world.

In spring 2022, our members’ Official Representatives will have the opportunity to join the EPCA Ordinary General Meeting, as a first digital connection point of the year. The 2022 OGM will be held on 27 May 2022. Hold the date!

The Team and I are looking forward to reconnecting with you all first digitally and then in person in Berlin (our dear members)!

Until we meet again, I’m sharing this first quarter newsletter and sending my warmest regards.

Happy reading,

Caroline Ciuciu
