The Talent and Leadership Committee (formerly known as the Talents of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow or TTLT) is evolving! At their meeting in January, the committee decided to introduce a third branch focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), reinforcing our dedication to building a diverse and skilled workforce. The group will now be focusing on the following work areas:
● Talent Attraction - How can we build up the workforce of the future, encouraging them to study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subjects and eventually join the industry?
● Leadership - What do tomorrow’s leaders need to help the petrochemical industry thrive amidst today’s challenges?
● Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Fill in our DEI survey and join us at our DEI workshop at the EPCA Annual Meeting on 22 September!
We are excited to have launched a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) survey in partnership with the Women in Logistics (WiL) initiative, which aims to understand and improve gender diversity within the petrochemical industry.
Your feedback is essential for understanding and improving gender diversity in the petrochemical sector ➡️ complete the survey here by 4 April 2025.
This survey builds on our 2022 study, which found that the chemical industry had improved and was on par with other industries in terms of female share in supervisory boards (23%), though it found that there had been little progress in Executive Committees (8% female share). This year’s survey will be run in two parts. You can find a PDF with the questions here, so that you can already see what is asked before you complete the survey.
● Part 1 aims to understand the status of Diversity & Inclusion in the Petrochemical Industry and facilitate the journey towards it.
● Part 2 will focus on experiences and perspectives for Women in the Logistics Industry.
Your insights are crucial for understanding the current landscape, identifying challenges, and highlighting opportunities for growth and advancement.
We’ve reached the end of EPCA’s Impactful Leadership: Shaping Business Success Through ESG Inspiring Leadership, Driving Change, and Navigating ESG webinar series! The concluding webinar held on 12 March 2025 wrapped up an insightful journey through ESG reporting, leadership strategies, and sustainable business practices, also touching on how the EU's recently proposed simplified regulations impact ESG implementation in the petrochemical sector including essential strategies and best practices, addressing the implications of these regulatory changes. Participants gained valuable insights into the evolving CSRD landscape to better understand how these changes could affect their obligations and shape their future sustainability strategies.
Over the course of the series, industry experts shared invaluable guidance on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), pragmatic approaches for SMEs, and leadership's role in driving ESG success. A huge thank you to all who participated and contributed— and a particular thanks to Bertschi, D-Fine, LyondellBasell and Sabic for their valuable input!
A final report will be published in the coming weeks, and you can find all the slides and summary articles on the dedicated webinar series page.
